About Us

Scarlet Cloak is a new drama group dedicated to providing opportunities for those involved with theatre to develop their craft both through productions and workshops.

We welcome anyone wanting to work in any aspect of theatre, including beginners, although previous experience is an advantage and Scarlet Cloak will expect a professional level of effort and commitment from all members.

During 2008 there will be a number of activities in a wide variety of theatrical genres and techniques. Future developments will reflect the needs of the group members.

Scarlet Cloak are based in Dublin.

Productions

Scarlet Cloak will produce two types of plays both of which will draw on works from all parts of the world and all eras, from Classical Greek Theatre to modern Irish Drama and everything in between.

Full Scale Shows
These are full length plays with all the bells and whistles, or rather all the costumes, lights, sound effects, a full week's run in an actual theatre, printed programs, etc.

Small Scale Shows

These are shorter plays (eg: One Acts) produced with little or no budget and in a fairly short time frame. However they provide scope for experimentation and development.

Here is a chance for those new to various jobs to get their feet wet and learn their trade.

It also allows more experienced people to experiment with new techniques or ideas without the burden of knowing that the financial viability of the company rests on the commercial success of the performance. They may happen in unusual venues and follow less traditional concepts of theatre.
